Villarreal updates: Iñiguez to Reus, Ünal presentation tomorrow, etc.

Moi y Iniguez
Back in the day: Pablo Iñiguez and Moi Gomez, with La Rojita, celebrate Villarreal’s promotion

Villarreal have reached agreement with Reus Deportiu for the transfer of Pablo Iñiguez to the Segunda side. The Submarine keeps a repurchase option for the next couple of years, but other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Meanwhile, Cristian Espinosa has been widely reported as moving to Boca Juniors, but the deal is not done yet. Villarreal want a repurchase option if it’s a sale, Boca wants a purchase option if it’s a loan.

And finally, there was a rather breathless rumor, courtesy of a Mexican paper, that Jonathan dos Santos was going to join Club América in Liga MX. Negotiations with Villarreal were reported as “very advanced!!” Jona himself took to social media to rubbish this talk.

News of former Villarreal players: Jonathan de Guzman has moved from Napoli to Eintracht Frankfurt for €2m; Borja Valero has gone from Fiorentina to Inter Milan for about €5.5m (no idea if we get any of that, I expect not); Gonzalo Rodriguez has returned to San Lorenzo from Fiorentina on a free transfer. And our former sporting director Antonio Cordon has left Monaco, frustrated at the number of players being sold without his approval.

And, you can watch Enes Ünal’s official presentation on Wednesday, which is taking place at the historic hermitage (L’Ermita de la Mare de Déu en Gràcia) north of Vila-real’s downtown. It will be broadcast on Villarreal TV at 19.30 Spanish time.
