Samu Castillejo’s season is over

He’s been hit with a two-game suspension.

After our goalless draw against Depor, Samu Castillejo angrily accused referee Gil Manzano of having it in for Villarreal, saying to him in the tunnel “What do you have a against the Yellows? Always against the Yellows. You call everything against us.”

Recall that this was the referee whose arbitration in the Real Madrid match was, to say the least, controversial. In this match the controversy came mostly from an incident early in the second half where Depor’s goalkeeper Lux went after Roberto Soldado, pushing him to the ground, but received only a yellow card (as did Soldado).

The Competition Committee has rewarded Samu for his (true) observations with a two-game suspension, meaning he will miss the Valencia match this Sunday, and the first weekend of play next season.

Casti finishes the season with two goals in 33 appearances, plus another in the Copa del Rey, and a 6.90 rating and two man of the match awards from Whoscored. He will be missed on Sunday.
