Villarreal’s second team had a successful day, easily disposing of bottom club Eldense 4-0 at the Mini Estadi on what looked like a cool, overcast day.
The goals came from Carlitos (12th minute, 20th minute), Carlos Martinez (64th), and a penalty from Acosta in the 87th. Villarreal controlled the match throughout—I was particularly impressed with Madrid loanee Lazo in midfield, and it was good to see Anton Shvets gets some minutes as well. Leo Suarez is I believe injured (don’t know exactly with what) and did not play today.
With the win, we have 41 points and move temporarily within a point of fourth-placed Herculés. They host Badalona (also with 41 points) tomorrow.
So a good win, but next week we play at Badalona, and an away win would be huge—we have not had one since defeating Herculés 3-2, three months ago. Here’s hoping!
