As we get ready for Malaga’s visit on Saturday, we may have some reinforcement at the back. Mateo Musacchio looks to be making his way back from the broken wrist he suffered against Barcelona on January 8. He’s being outfitted with a protective guard which has to meet league safety requirements, but he is hoping to be available.
Roberto Soriano returns after his suspension for yellow-card accumulation, Nicola Sansone should be available after missing out last week with a calf muscle strain. One worry is Manu Trigueros, who missed training earlier this week, but he seemed OK today. And Roberto Soldado should be returning to action soon as well—probably not against Malaga, but the week after.
By the way, our yellow card stats are as follows:
Jaume Costa, Sansone, Roberto Soriano 5 (this is from whoscored; I’ve also seen Costa credited with 6 elsewhere)
Bruno, Mario Gaspar, Victor Ruiz 3.
I also see Alvaro Gonzalez credited with 3, but he sat out last week for yellow card accumulation, didn’t he?
One thing to keep in mind as we move through this second half of the season—we have 36 yellows as a team. Malaga, for instance, have 54—with four players in danger of missing the next match if they get one against us. (Alavès lead the league, with 72 yellows).
