Ex-Villarreal and current Valencia coach Marcelino headed home to Asturias yesterday evening, but didn’t make it as planned. Marcelino, his wife, and his mother were in a traffic accident about 11:30PM last night Spanish time. His car hit a wild boar on the AP-68 motorway near Logroño.

Marcelino, who was driving, and his wife were slightly injured; they were seen at the local hospital but have been discharged. His mother was more severely injured and may still be in hospital, no idea. The boar was killed.

Valencia CF released a statement this morning confirming the incident and also confirming their coach had been released from hospital. He’s now back in Gijón, doubtless shaken up, but thankful nothing worse occurred. We hope he enjoys that Christmas turron with his family!
