Villarreal attempt to rebound from three consecutive La Liga losses at Vigo. We’ve had good results here since Celta rejoined the Primera in 2013 (2 wins and 2 losses) and it would be good to pick up three points in this one.
Villarreal’s team call is:
Keepers Asenjo and Barbosa.
Defenders Mario Gaspar, Álvaro, Víctor Ruiz, Jaume Costa, Rukavina and Pau.
Midfielders Cheryshev, Fornals, S. Castillejo, Trigueros, Rodrigo, Soriano, Ramiro and Chuca.
Strikers: Bacca and Mario González.
Cedric Bakambu has five yellows so is sitting, Raba is suspended, Andres Fernandez, Sansone, Semedo and Bonera are injured, and no one knows what is happening with Bruno. Adrian Marin is dropped.
So, it looks as if we will be going with our standard back four; the question is which one of the midfielders will play second striker with Bacca. Possibly Roberto Soriano, I’d think.
Celta are missing some key players, including Iago Aspas and captain Hugo Mello. Maxi Gomez is their danger man with Aspas out.
Celta’s form has been better of late, and they are almost guaranteed to score a set-piece goal in this one. On the other hand, the home side don’t defend particularly well either—in fact neither team is particularly good at protecting a lead.
Prediction: There are probably at least three goals in this game....I figure it’s time to turn around our luck so Celta 1-2 Villarreal.
