Villarral and Slavia Prague played to a 2-2 draw, all the goals coming in a first half where Slavia went ahead through goals from Nacid and Danny, then Villarreal scored twice in two minutes from Trigueros and Carlos Bacca. The highlights are here:
Villarreal play in Prague November 2nd, and could really use a win, or at least a draw (and we’d be happy if Maccabi Tel Aviv could take a point against Astana, too).
A couple of Sr. Calleja’s rotations didn’t work—Unal was invisible, and Ramiro Guerra was overmatched at times, while Roberto Soriano was combustible yet ineffective. But two goals from Manu Trigueros and Carlos Bacca, with Pablo Fornals involved in the buildup for both, brought Villarreal even before the break, and the second half was dominated by the Yellow Submarine.
A disappointing result in that we didn’t win, but a good comeback to avoid what would have been a disastrous defeat.
