Aleix García Serrano former Villarreal B player has two reasons to celebrate. First and foremost, his actual team Manchester City are current leaders of the Premier League having won all their games including the Manchester derby. Second of all, Aleix must be all smiles having finally made his first team debut in the Premier League under Pep Guardiola almost a year later after having joined the Citizens from Villarreal.

Enter minute 75th. Manchester City are comfortably routing Bournemouth 4-0 at the Ettihad. Pep Guardiola decides to bring off his best man of the night, (arguably City’s best player so far as well) Belgian midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, to handle a young man named Aleix García his first team debut in the Premier League.

Aleix García is the 2nd player born in Ulldecona (a small town composed of a little more than 6,000 people, that lies just South of Catalonia), to play in the Premier League after Oriol Romeu did so with Chelsea in 2011.

Having arrived at Vila-Real in 2005 from local team Ulldecona, Aleix spent 10 magnificent years often stunning fans alike with his dazzling skills at the youth categories of Villarreal. There would the day where he would finally made his first team debut with Villarreal on 23 May 2015. Albeit a sour debut as he was subbed in the second half of a 4-0 loss against Bilbao having replaced Antonio Rukavina.

Subsequently, Aleix would not even have a chance to made the preseason with Villarreal’s first team as he was sold to Manchester City on August. Aleix made his official debut with the Citizens on February of this year during the FA Cup. He had had to wait a year almost to finally make his debut in the Premier League.

Enhorabuena, Aleix!
