Villarreal B are preparing themselves for their opening of the Premier League International Cup as reigning champions of the tournament as they will be taking on current Premier League U21 Champions Manchester United at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium.
Villarreal B news:
The Mini Submarine won their first match of the season with a convincing 3-1 home victory against CE Sabadell. However, they will still not be counting with Carlitos as he is still injured. The good news are that Anton Shvets returns from injury.
The squad for the game against Manchester United U23 is as follows:
- Goalkeepers: Ander Cantero and Joan Femenías.
- Defenders: Marcos Mauro, Ramón Bueno, Juan ‘Ibiza’, Peris, Felipe, Pau and Edgar Ié.
- Midfielders: Morlanes, Anton Shvets, Larrea, Ramiro, Raba, Lazo, Doffo, Cantalapiedra and Javi García.
- Strikers: Carlos Martínez, Franco Acosta and Mario González.
Manchester United U23 news:
United tied 1-1 against Manchester City at the Etihad during their last encounter in the Premier League 2 division.
United currently sit in 9th place with a 1W-2D-1L record.
Ideally, the club should focus on promotion to Segunda and avoid those trips to England to reduce fatigue. Nevertheless, it’s still important window for the club to keep gaining more international exposure and it feels great to compete and win titles in the youth category.
The only downside is obviously the fatigue accumulated after said trips when it comes to play in Segunda B, and also, British clubs might take notice of the Villarreal young players and try to snap them away.
