Villarreal defeat Malaga at La Rosaleda, 2-0

New, comments

It’s the first won for coach Escribá as head of the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal scored two goals in the last fifteen minutes of the first half and controlled the second half to post a 2-0 win over Malaga. The first goal came from Jaume Costa, assisted by Santos Borré, who took a throw-in and maneuvered around three Malaga players to cross the ball to Costa. The Colombian earned a penalty moments later, but Bruno’s penalty kick was saved by Kameni.

Manu Trigueros then made a great pass to Nicola Sansone, Kameni parried the first shot, but not the second, and Villarreal had all they needed.

Debuts for Denis Cheryshev and Jona dos Santos as second half substitutes, both returned from injury. A good display and confidence will be high as we prepare to host Zurich on Thursday.
