Javier Espinosa leaves Villarreal

Amidst speculation of him leaving Villarreal, Javier Espinosa has disassociated from the club after he was deemed surplus to requirements.

Espinosa joined Villarreal during the summer of 2014, arriving on a free transfer from Barcelona B, where he helped the Catalans finish into a 3rd best place ever in their history, and having contributing 7 goals and registering 6 assists.

The former Barca B midfielder made his debut in August 2014 replacing Cani against the Catalan giants in a 0-1 loss for Villarreal. Espinosa recorded his first goal in a 4-2 home victory against Rayo Vallecano. Javier also scored a brace against Cypriot outfit Apollon Limasson during an Europa League match.

After being used sparingly, mostly as a sub, Espinosa lost his place in the bench and was sent on loan to Almería for the remainder of the 2014-15 season. He would go to spend the 2015-16 season on loan again, this time with Valencian outfit, Elche FC.

It is rumored that Espinosa has offers from both Levante and Rayo Vallecano were he could join Pablo Íñiguez.

We want to wish Espinosa the best of luck for whatever the future holds for him!.
