No agreement for Musacchio transfer; Submarine looking at Marcos Rojo

Milan representatives showed up empty-handed, and they left the same way.

The much-ballyhooed visit of Milan's Galliani to Vila-real to arrange the transfer of Mateo Musacchio to AC Milan has ended--for now--without agreement.  Part of the problem was Milan seems to be trying to spend money it does not yet have.

The purchase from Chinese investors is still going through all the crossing of t's and dotting of i's so beloved of attorneys worldwide, apparently, and until that's done, Milan have to sell before they can buy.  Carlos Bacca's transfer would have provided money, but he turned down a move to West Ham, forcing Milan to start all over again.

Regardless, Milan offered Villarreal somewhere around €22-23m (and maybe some 'variables' as well) but Villarreal is standing firm at €30m. Musacchio didn't practice yesterday, no reason given, so maybe the expectation was Milan would show up with a little more ability to resolve the purchase than they did.

Villarreal are now being linked with Argentine defender Marcos Rojo, who can play on the left as well as centerback.  He isn't featuring in Jose Mourinho's plans at Manchester United.  Juan Mata did play in their friendly today vs. Wigan, as did Eric Bailly.
