Milan "insisting" on Musacchio, Suso now in the mix as well as cash

New, comments

Villarreal begins training tomorrow, so if Mateo is leaving, 'twere well if it were done quickly and a replacement brought in.

Ah, the transfer market.  If we believe the Italian papers, and it seems the local journalists following Villarreal do, AC Milan is not going to take no for an answer where Mateo Musacchio is concerned.  They offered €20m; Villarreal said no.

Villarreal has asked (apparently) for €30m; now Milan is offering to include Suso in the deal.  You may remember him from Almeria, where he played on loan from Liverpool.  He's mostly played on the right but considers himself a number 10, support striker really.

Milan appear to value him at around €10m but that is rather ridiculous; they paid only €1.3m for him from Liverpool.  Transfermarkt values him at €3.3m, and list Javier Espinosa as a 'comparable player', which is interesting given Villarreal apparently don't want him back.

Difficult to read the tea leaves here but it is interesting that Swansea's Argentine international defender Federico Fernandez is a name that is suddently being mentioned in the same breath with Villarreal.

What we do know is that Milan has worked out contract terms with Musacchio (for four years, salary unknown); Milan definitely want him.  Villarreal, having lost once central defender already this close season, need to stall here to make sure they have a replacement sewn up before Musacchio leaves.  As for the Suso interest, that really comes down to what value Villarreal gives him.

My guess would be--assuming Villarreal knows they can quickly sign Fernandez or another CB they want--some sort of agreement in the €18-20m+Suso range, maybe with some variables, is likely.   Probably in the next couple of days.  Milan isn't in so much of a hurry, but Villarreal is.  Do you agree?
