Could Villarreal lose Marcelino?

New, comments

One thing we didn't think we would have to worry about was a coaching vacancy, but Marca reports when Vicente del Bosque steps down, Marcelino could succeed him.

Marcelino Garcia Toral and Villarreal have been a great partnership, and the Mister signed a contract extension through 2019 and clearly has no plans to leave.  But.....country could come a-calling.  Vicente del Bosque has constantly said he will step down in July after the Euros, and the Spanish federation has apparently accepted that decision.

Marcelino is among the names supposedly being considered.  Unai Emery is another (although other news today is that Paris Saint-Germain are trying to pry him away from Sevilla), Paco Jemez, etc.

There is a clause in Marce's contract, as with any coach of his caliber, that would allow him to leave early to coach the national team.

Would it be a good fit?  What do you think?
