Euro 2016 begins with ex-Villarreal man Andone in action

Also ex-Elche man Sapunaru and Rayo's Rat.

Quick note that ex-Villarreal cantera (and Castellón kid) Florin Andone is starting for Romania against France.  Another piece of interest--Romania are wearing an all-yellow kit with red and blue highlights.  It's made by Joma, who are going to be providing Villarreal's new kits (it hasn't been officially announced but we've seen photos of lots of Joma boxes at the Villarreal training ground).  So we'll have to see if Joma has adapted this Romanian template for us or have done something much different.

Cristian Sāpunaru is playing for Romania, too.  He picked up 19 yellow cards in one season with Zaragoza when they were relegated (2012-13) and was part of Elche's 2013-14 squad, though I don't remember if he played against us or not.  He is now playing in Romania.

Rayo Vallecano have a player here, too-Razvan Rat.  35 years old and still defending!  So some of the 'minnows' of La Liga are represented.

Also of interest, Marseille keeper Steve Mandanda, who will be available on a free and has been linked with several clubs including Villarreal, is on the French bench.

Enjoy the match!
