Villarreal take on Liverpool in one EL semifinal

Sevilla travel to Shaktar first, we host Liverpool first.

It is probably the most glamorous tie we could have at this point--Villarreal are drawn against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool FC.   To be honest I would feel more confident of making the final if we were playing at Anfield first--I think we saw yesterday what effect the Anfield atmosphere can have on a side trying to maintain an advantage in the second half of a match--but Villarreal will feel pretty confident they can post a good result in the first leg in El Madrigal.

Liverpool are, it must be admitted, only lying eighth in the EPL at the moment (they could get to sixth with some games in hand) and with just six matches remaining and nine points adrift of fourth place, aren't going to make the Champions League unless they win the Europa League.

Marcelino and Klopp will certainly keep the fourth official busy on the sidelines, and the cameramen will enjoy that matchup--two coaches who wear their hearts on their sleeves when it comes to the games they're coaching in.

We'll have to see what sort of ticket allocation Villarreal receives for Anfield (and of course there will be a huge Liverpool turnout for the leg in El Madrigal--I would expect the away end to be totally full).   Don't expect this trip to Merseyside to be full of photo ops at the Cavern Club--this time we're there on business!!

Can Villarreal make it to their first European final, or will Liverpool make it for the first time since 2005 and that night in Istanbul?  What do you think of the draw?
