Reportedly, Denis Suarez has agreed to rejoin Barca in the summer

Suarez says not so.

Our sister blog Barca Blaugranes reported yesterday:

According to Diario Sport, the Blaugrana are set to sign midfielder Denis Suárez, currently of Villarreal, in the upcoming transfer window. The Catalans will exercise their buy-back clause of only €3 million, and the player will join the club on a five-year contract.

To be honest, regardless of whether this has already been agreed, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be agreed in the summer anyway.   (The only reason might be if for some reason Barca decide to wait and exercise their buyback clause the following season--I believe it's good for two years).  Villarreal don't have any say in the matter--the buyback clause is in his contract that we assumed from Sevilla.

Denis won't be anything more than a backup midfielder at Barcelona for now, but he doesn't have any say in that, either.

I'm sure Villarreal will know what's happening with him early in the summer (if they don't already) and the sooner we know and can plan accordingly, the better.
