Villarreal B 1-1 Alcoyano

If you were dismayed at the lack of attacking football on display in Bilbao, the match in the Mini Estadi was for you.  Alcoyano and Villarreal B played to a 1-1 draw, both the goals coming in the second half.  Jesus Alfaro opened the scoring in the 68th minute with a blistering shot that nearly took off the roof of the net, the goal set up by a poor pass coming out of our area.

Villarreal came back though with a goal by Marcos Mauro, and dominated the remainder of play, but not even the speed and guile of Leo Suarez could find a way through, as Marc Martinez was equal to the challenge.  It was fast, furious football, end-to-end, with quality and skill on evidence from both squads.

Other results today helped both teams.  Reus lost to Hercules 3-0; Valencia B defeated Cornella 1-0. At the moment, Villarreal B are on 50 points, Reus 46, Herules 40 and Alcoyano 39, with Lleida Esportiu, still to play today, on 39.
