Sergio Asenjo has been finally been rewarded for his remarkable performances this season after being called up to La Roja by Julen Lopetegui for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification game against Macedonia on November 12, and for the friendly match against England on November 15.
Asenjo made his debut for Spain this year on May 29th in a 3–1 friendly win over Bosnia and Herzegovina at the AFG Arena in St. Gallen, Switzerland. The other goalkeepers in the squad are David de Gea and Pepe Reina.

Meanwhile, Samu Castillejo has been called up to the Spanish U21 side by Albert Celades for the play-offs against Austria on November 11th and 15th.
