Villarreal--Atletico Madrid PREVIEW

New, comments

Oh, it would be so nice to win this one.

The Prodigal son returns to sit on the bench against Villarreal

Many Villarreal fans despaired to see Vietto leave for the capital--it is such a shame to see such talent to sit on the bench. He will regret his decision (Marcelino already said he needed another year of regular minutes at the top level),  the question is will the player receive a warm reception at Villarreal and hug Marcelino, the man who brought him to the world's attention.

Villarreal are flying up the table following a 1-0 victory against Malaga.   Four league games won in a row now, with the highlight a 3-1 thumping of Athletic Bilbao last weekend.   Only slight problem all these victories have taken their toll as currently we have only one fit striker.  Fortunately Atleti didn't put anything in his contract that said he couldn't play against them--maybe he can core against his parent club.

Soldado is well enough to at least be in the squad, but maybe not the starting XI? Our squad:

Keepers: Barbosa and Areola;

Defenders: Mario, Rukavina, Jokic, Jaume Costa, Eric Bailly and Víctor Ruiz;

Midfielders: Bruno, Jonathan dos Santos, Pina, Trigueros, Denis Suárez, Samuel García, Samu Castillejo and Nahuel;

Strikers:  Soldado and Leo Baptistao.

On the plus side Atletico haven't got injured Koke but Jose Maria Gimenez is back.  Their team is:

Goalkeepers: Moyá, Oblak
Defenders: Godín, Filipe, Savic, Gámez, Juanfran, Giménez
Midfielders: Tiago, Griezmann, Óliver, Gabi, Saúl, Thomas
Forwards: Torres, Jackson, Correa, Vietto

My prediction will be a tight 2-0 victory to us,  in light of limited striking options hope to see a Mario cracker again but it isn't a blue moon, I checked. Vammoos!!!
