No Soldado or Bakambu for Malaga match

New, comments

Villarreal will be relying on its depth for the trip to Malaga, as both Soldado and Bakambu will be missing. Samu Garcia reenters the side, which will help. Victor Ruiz is being rested.

Villarreal's injury news is that Cedric Bakambu is likely to be out between two to four weeks with his ankle sprain, though we won't know the full details until his MRI is done (when the swelling goes down).  Meanwhile, Roberto Soldado's abdominal muscle problem is ruling him out of the trip to La Rosaleda also, though Marcelino said he might be able to return for the match against Atleti on Saturday.  Everyone else (except Musacchio and Asenjo, of course) should be available.

Marce said in his press conference he expects to play two strikers--since Adrian and Baptistao are the only healthy ones, that would seem to indicate they will be the 2 in the 4-4-2.  I would suspect we should see some rotations behind them, though, as we have another match on Saturday.

Here's the travelling party:

  • Keepers: Barbosa y Areola.
  • Defenders: Mario, Rukavina, Jokic, Jaume Costa, Eric Bailly,  Pablo Íñiguez.
  • Midfielders: Bruno, Jonathan dos Santos, Pina, Trigueros, Denis Suárez, Samuel García, Samu Castillejo,  Nahuel.
  • Strikers: Adrián, Leo Baptistao.

What about..... Areola; Mario, Iñiguez,  Baily, Jokic; Castillejo, Trigueros, Bruno, Samu G; Adrian and Baptistao?

That leaves Jona to come off the bench, also Denis Suarez to bolster attack if necessary.
