Cheryshev situation to be resolved soon; Hector Moreno's, a little longer

Now we are at that stage of the season where one completed move has knock-on effects on others. Or, failure to complete a move can stymie other moves.

Looking toward a yellow future? We want Cheryshev!

News from Madrid first--Denis Cheryshev's agent Ginés Carvajal, joined by the player himself, is meeting with Real Madrid representatives to resolve his future, at least for next year. Villarreal has formally requested his reincorporation (I suppose in the form of a loan, whether with or without a purchase option would need to be negotiated) since he had such a great year with us and Marcelino likes him a lot.

Denis wants to play, and it's hard to see him getting many minutes in Madrid.  It's been rumored Arsenal and Liverpool were going to give Madrid offers to purchase him, but I have never seen those confirmed anywhere.  Groguet fingers are crossed that Madrid "does the right thing" and we have Chery again this season!

Cedric Bakambu has already passed his medical tests in Vila-real, apparently.  The transfer fee is believed to be around €8m, though this has not been confirmed by Villarreal.  Hopefully his release clause will be at least €30m, because if he turns out to do well, you know the EPL vultures and their money will be circling!

Gerard Moreno's transfer to Espanyol is obviously not as close to being done as was though last week.  Sr. Roig met with his Espanyol counterpart at that time; we don't know how cordial the meeting was (remember Espanyol were livid with us for signing Eric Bailly and said at the time 'relations were broken' between the clubs).    What we do know is that Gerard's desire to leave, while partly driven by salary demands, also has a lot to do with playing time.

The problem for the parakeets is they have no liquidity.  Even a modest transfer fee upfront (€1.5-2m) with a large portion of the sell-on rights reserved by Villarreal, is problematic for them.   Hector Moreno, their Mexican international defender, is someone they can move.  There was some idea he could be included in the Moreno deal (both clubs thus avoiding having to print new shirts, just give the new Moreno old Moreno's number!!) but that idea didn't seem to go anywhere.

Then, it appeared Espanyol were going to sell him to the Dutch team, PSV (Eindhoven).  However, that move has broken down, per Dutch media, with the two teams unable to agree on a transfer fee.  According to this article, Moreno was in Eindhoven, had already agreed personal terms with the Dutch club and passed his medical, but PSV don't want to pay the €4m Espanyol is asking.  So, he's flown back to Spain.

Espanyol have already lost Sergio Garcia and Christian Stuani (whose international clearance finally came through, so he was able to play for Middlesborough yesterday).  So expectations are eventually they will find a way to sign Gerard, but Villarreal is not assuming anything, so he has been part of the squad as usual.

Updates as we get more information on any of these.
