Villarreal end Australian visit on sour note, losing 3-0 to Brisbane

Villarreal head home and to summer vacation after participating in the LFP World Challenge.

The Yellow Submarine rn aground on the Great Barrier Reef, I guess, because after a lot of fun and sun along  Australia's Gold Coast, the team dropped a 3-0 decision to Brisbane Roar in the final match of their Australian visit.

The home side scored two goals in four minutes near the end of the first half; Villareal had a great chance to pull a goal back partway through the second half but Gerard put his chance over the net in a one-on-one with the keeper, and when Luciano Vietto was awarded a penalty a few minutes later, he did the same thing.  His panenka might have been a nice idea, but it ballooned over the target.

Brisbane added a third goal late on.
