Latest from Javi Mata (Radio Vila-real) and others on Villarreal ins and outs:
Luciano Vietto: Two of the clubs that will supposedly meet his current release clause are Arsenal and Liverpool. Theo Walcott has told Arsenal he wants to play as a striker if he remains with the Gunners, so Arsene Wenger might not see the reason to spend €20m on Vietto if he has a cheaper option.
Liverpool also want Vietto, but exactly how much of a transfer budget Brendan Rodgers will have, or how much support he will have, isn't clear either. I'd think that would be a third option for Vietto anyway, to be honest. (Bonus: at least one website doesn't think Liverpool should sign Vietto anyhow)
I would expect he either signs a new contract and remains with Villarreal, or remains in Spain but moves to Atleti. Watch this space.
Denis Cheryshev: Oh, look, Liverpool want him too! Reds scouts watched him 15 times this season.
And then there are the questions of whether Real Madrid want him back, or what Rafa Benitez thinks about Chery. Villarreal are hopeful of at least getting him on loan for another year, and might even be willing to pay his release clause and sign him ourselves, according to EPM. He clearly enjoys Villarreal and would be happy to remain with the Submarine, but as he notes the decision is not totally his to make.
New rumor, Samu Castillejo: Malaga right winger, 20 years old. Diego Simeone is a big fan of his, too, so maybe Atleti will want him as well....
And rumor is Gael Kakuta is moving to Sevilla...for €3m!!!! How do they get such good deals on players? Cheap, cheap.
Oh, yeah, Sepp Blatter resigned as FIFA god, less than a week after being reelected. It's a thrill every day in Zurich!
