Alfonso Pedraza named for the Elite round of the European U-19

The promising winger from San Sebastián de los Ballesteros has been called up by Luis de la Fuente for the upcoming Elite round of the European U-19. Nahuel and Adrián Marín will miss the tournament due to injury.

Maria Jose Segovia.

Alfonso Pedraza is following a meteoric ascension ever since he arrived at Villarreal from local club Séneca in his native town of San Sebastián de los Ballesteros located in the Province of Córdoba, in 2011. Alfonso has seen his dream come true after making his debut with Villarreal's first team against Valencia at Mestalla in a a match that ended 0-0. Pedraza came off the bench in the 72nd replacing Jonathan dos Santos.

Alfonso has skipped various stages throughout the season, having started playing with Juvenil A first, then alternating between the C and B team, and subsequently making his first team debut. He has been a key player for the Juvenil A squad, helping the team win their division and the Copa de Campeones, with views of winning another title as the Juvenil A is playing in the Copa del Rey Juvenil.

Following Pedraza's impressive performances, he has been rewarded by Spain U-19 national team coach Luis de la Fuente, who has called Alfonso for the Elite round of the European U-19 championship. Spain are in Group 1 paired with Georgia, Turkey and Portugal. La Rojita will make their debut in the elite round against Georgia on May 29, at Mikheil Meskhi in Tbilisi (capital of Georgia), two days later they will be facing Turkey, and they'll be closing their group against Portugal on June, 3rd.

Unfortunately Nahuel and Adrián Marín will miss the tournament due to injury, having both played an important part of this process.

We wish Alfonso the best of luck and hope that Spain qualify for the final phase of the European U-19 Championship.
