Pundits and players alike are still in shock over our hammering at the hands of Espanyol. Villarreal have gone from Champions League challengers to a mid-table side in the space of a couple of weeks.
Yes, we've been plagued by injuries and fatigue in the second half of the season, yet we are still in a Europa League position which is an achievement in itself. There are all sorts of rumours flying around but fans will be hoping we don’t go crazy in the summer. Our squad is more than capable with the players we have, and coming 6th is not a bad thing. The early kickoff may be just what Villarreal needs to secure its standing.
Squad
Asenjo, Juan Carlos. Mario, Rukavina, Jaume Costa, Musacchio, Eric Bailly, Dorado and Jokic. Pina, Trigueros, Jonathan dos Santos, Cheryshev, Campbell andi Moi Gómez. Giovani, Uche and Gerard.
Two shocks in this week’s squad: the return of Denis which is a huge boast for the team. He can bring back that creativity that has been missing since his injury. Although don’t get too excited, as it is likely he’ll start on the bench to be on the safe side. Vietto has been dropped--well, many of you thought he looked tired and you can hardly blame him. He has been our star man all season and we can’t forget he is only 21 which in football years is a dangerous age. One bad injury could ruin his entire career.
Getafe
Getafe haven’t had the best season either, but seemed to have discovered their form again towards the end of the season, under their third coach. They have now moved 10 points above the drop after wins over Deportivo La Coruna and Elche.
My prediction is a 1-0 victory ;hopefully it will come true!
