It has been a difficult week for Villarreal following their elimination of their European dream. The Yellow Submarine left a good image despite the losses. It was way too much punishment for a team that always tried to display a good football. What is more sad was the fact that the 2,000 fans did not see any reward after making the trip to Sevilla in search of a comeback.
Villarreal will have to lick their wounds clean as they take on Sevilla for the third time this month. The Yellow Submarine will have to leave the elimination behind them to focus now on the remaining games in La Liga and to sustain themselves in the European competition spots.
The latest news for the squad against Sevilla are the call up of Villarreal B winger, Alfonso Pedraza (wearing kit #61), and the absence of Jaume Costa due to the red card he received against Almería last week. Víctor Ruiz and Cheryshev will also be out due to muscular discomforts.
Marcelino will have to drop one player from the squad. Presumably it would be Pedraza who could be dropped from the squad, although he could perfectly make his debut tomorrow having Sergio Marcos being a perfect example of Marcelino's trust in the youth.
The initial Villarreal squad is as follows: (Remember Marcelino will have to drop one player)
- Goalkeepers: Sergio Asenjo, Juan Carlos
- Defenders: Mario Gaspar, Antonio Rukavina, Eric Bailly, Chechu Dorado, Bojan Jokić
- Midfielders: Tomás Pina, Manu Trigueros, Sergio Marcos, Jonathan dos Santos, Joel Campbell, Moi Gómez, Alfonso Pedraza (#61)
- Forwards: Luciano Vietto, Ike Uche, Gerard Moreno, Gio dos Santos
Will Jokić finally make his return after his long term injury on the absence of Costa, or will Marcelino give Rukavina the get go as he did so on Thursday for the Europa League?.
Comment away.
