Happy Birthday Villarreal CF! And Bruno extends his contract another year....

This is the 92nd 'birthday' of Villarreal CF, founded March 10, 1923 'to promote all sports, especially soccer'.

And on the club's birthday comes news that Bruno Soriano has added one more year to his contract--which now runs until 2020--and will remain at some capacity with the club once he retires (he'll be 36 in 2020, so it might be then, I suppose).  His previous contract expired in 2019, though he could have extended it by a year if certain criteria were met; this contract removes those restrictions.

In the Marca interview linked above, Sr. Roig Negueroles said we're hopeful Bruno will be able to return to the pitch after the March international break, which would be good news indeed.  We have won four and drawn one of the seven matches we've played in his absence, but you have to think the Copa result might have been closer, at least, had he been available the entire time.

Endavant Villarreal!  Feliz Cumpleaños!
