Villarreal B defeats Atlético Baleares 1-0 at the Mini Estadi

Villarreal B maintains their good run in two matches after defeating Atlético Baleares 1-0 at the Mini Estadi thanks to a goal by sub Alfonso Pedraza.

The B team defeated Atlético Baleares to earn their first victory at home since the beginning of the year. The young submarine side remained calmed with a solid defensive order throughout the match against a very tough and hardened team of Baleares that really offered resistance even with 10 men against the B team. Villarreal B is now 2 points near the play-off positions pending other teams results.

The first half was marked by great intensity by both teams, with a strong defensive play that prevented both teams from opening the score. Villarreal B was near the first goal during the first half when Leo Súarez made a nice play, breaking away on the left side and cutting inside the box, delivering a cross that no one manage to make contact with.

During the second half, however, Paco López's men went out inspired and were very close to open the score in the starting minutes. After a nice cross by Nahuel, Cubillas failed to make contact with the ball after the crowd almost chanted the goal.

In the 60th minute, Baleares would find themselves down to 10 men after Jaime Hernández was sent off with a second yellow card. The B team was very adamant on finding the goal, and after constantly besieging the goal of Baleares, they found their reward in the 74th minute.

Juvenile Alfonso Pedraza, after been subbing in after a few minutes in the second half poached the loose ball in the box, and after his first attempt was blocked, he found the rebound and struck a left shot past Baleares GK.

After the goal, Baleares tried to react and look for the tying goal but Villarreal B managed to contain them to take the three points home, and to escalate positions in the table, nearing the play-off posts.
