Villarreal B falls to Badalona at Ciudad Deportiva

The B team lost to a clinical Badalona who managed to convert their chances. Captain Sergio Marcos was absent as he was called to the first team. Congratulations to Sergio nonetheless.

Paco  López team could not recreate the form displayed against Espanyol last week, as they stumbled upon Badalona at Ciudad Deportiva. The B team has not won a single match at home since the beginning of the year, and they lost vital points against a direct rival for promotion. Captain Sergio Marcos was out of the match as he was called to the first team in the absence of Bruno. It was a significant loss for the B team as Sergio Marcos is the leader of the young submarine and often commands the midfield.

The match did not start well for the young submarine as it was during the 20th minute when Badalona draw a corner kick and Badalona's center back Amantini, converted for the Catalonian outfit, heading the wall away, giving the visitors the lead.

It would not be the last thing from Badalona during the first half, as minutes later they were giving Villarreal B a serious headache on aerial duels and set pieces plays. It was a constant throughout the game. Badalona's No. 11, Abraham, struck a direct free kick from the left flank that made its way past Bañuz. (Min. 26th). A bit harsh call from the ref as Aleix seemed to made minimal contact and have won the ball fairly from the Badalona player.

It was a wake up call as Paco López made three adjustments by subbing in, José Naranjo, Rodri and Fran García, looking for a change.

The B team only goal was scored by Cubillas in the last period of the match. It was sub left back Fran García who made a run down the left flank, making a precise cross that Cubillas headed in to the net in an impeccable fashion. Unfortunately it was not enough for Villarreal B.
