Villarreal's U-12's participated in the La Liga Promesas (Promises) tournament, held in Mami this year.
The tournament brought together youth teams from eight Spanish sides and eight clubs from other countries including the US, UK, Germany, and Japan. Villarreal played in a group with Barcelona, Crystal Palace and Weston (Florida), and won all their group matches. They then defeated Juventus in the quarterfinals to set up a semifinal pairing against--you guessed it--Barcelona.
Unfortunately, this time our guys weren't as fortunate--it's always tough to defeat a team twice, anyway--and so the final will be between Valencia and Barca (Los Che defeated Sevilla in the other semi).
I don't know if there is a third-place game or not, but regardless, congratulations to our youngsters for a fine tournament and representing Villarreal well in the US.
Now to get the first team over here for a preseason match or two, right?
