Villarreal-Las Palmas all-time records

Villarreal hasn't played the islanders that often, and most of the matches have been in the Segunda. Our last matches in the Primera took place in 2001/2002.

Don't forget, guys, the yellow team in this match is NOT US!

Villarreal travel to Las Palmas for the first time since 2012.  It seems a long time ago--our Julio Velazquez-coached side drew 2-2 with two penalties from Marcos Senna...and Walter Pandiani and Gerard Bordas came off our bench!

Las Palmas had Thievy Bifouma on loan and he scored both their goals and could have won a penalty at the end, as I recall.  Nauzet Aleman and Javi Castellani are practically the only players left from that team, but Jonathan Viera--who Las Palmas sold to Valencia and eventually picked up again on loan from Standard Liege--and El Zhar, who you'll remember from Levante, are familiar to us.

Villarreal connections: Wakaso Mubarak plays for them now, but is suspended for yellow card accumulation (five in six matches, that's Wakaso all right!!); Angel Lopez is also on their roster, but is injured.

Oh, Las Plamas fired their coach and Quique Setien just took over.  We often struggle against new coaches....

All-time records (Primera); Villarreal 3 wins, 1 loss, 11 goals scored, 5 against

(Segunda) Villarreal 1 win, 6 draws, 1 loss, 6 goals scored, 6 allowed

largest Villarreal win: 5-1 in Las Palmas, December 2000; current Malaga manager Javi Gracia scored our last goal!

largest Las Palmas win: 3-2 (home), March 2002
