Tomas Pina: Supposedly Espanyol are interested in him.
Why it makes sense: It doesn't. We saw last year having four players who can cycle in and out of the pivote is a good thing. Especially if Jonathan dos Santos is going to provide cover on the right wing as well, Pina will have playing time. He provides good defensive cover.
Likelihood of this happening: small. Espanyol have no money, so it would only be a loan, probably, and why?
The Costa Rican international is under contract at Arsenal, but has had little playing time there. David Moyes apparently would like him at La Real, and Villarreal have now been mentioned as a possible loan destination.
Why it makes sense (for Villarreal): Campbell has speed to burn, and we like speed. He can score goals, too. Plus, his favored position is right wing, and Moi is our only real out-and-out right winger assuming Hernán Pérez moves on. (Javier Espinosa is more of an attacking midfielder than a true winger). Of course if the first rumor is true, and we move Pina, then J dos has to play in the pivote, so suddenly we need a right winger.
Why it doesn't: Arsenal seem happy to loan Campbell out all over the globe, but don't want to sell him. I suppose we could take him on for a few months in the hope he'd help us get to fourth place and a CL spot, but I'd rather take a chance on someone we could permanently sign.
Campbell takes up a non-EU spot, too; why not go for Suso instead? Liverpool aren't playing him, he had a much more successful loan spell in Spain than Campbell did, and he's out of contract in June 2015. He'd be an excellent addition to our squad, and since he's Spanish he wouldn't take up an extracomunitario slot.
