Transfer rumor first--Celta's Michael Krohn-Dehli. His contract is up in June; he's 31. Plays more on the left or in the middle of midfield; I've always liked him. There's a story Sevilla and Villarreal are both after him.
B team news: B team drew with Deportiu Reus, 2-2. Goals from Jason and Esteve. A bit like the first-team match, sounds as if we were the better side but the home team came back for a draw. And, again like the first team, the draw was against a team very near in the table so avoiding a six-point swing is good, while winning would have been great.
C team news: Villarreal C is visiting Castellón today. The black-and-white side lead the table, and as we noted before are doing well in the Copa Federación (they won the home leg of their tie against Osasuna B 3-0, by the way). After so many years of institutional unrest, they are having a good season.
Some Castellon fans put up a banner along the motorway (i presume along the short ride from Vila-real to Castellon): "En la aldea los milliones, en la capital los cojones" with a Euro symbol for the e in milliones. Ha ha.
And finally, Las Palmas--Real Zaragoza today. Finished 5-3 to the home side; they were ahead 4-1 when they had three players sent off in the space of five minutes (one of them being ex-Villarreal player Angel Lopez). Somehow they managed to score a goal three men down sandwiched around 2 from Zaragoza.
Sad news was a Las Palmas supporter in the ground had a heart attack and passed away sometime during all the craziness. I'm actually surprised we don't hear about that happening more often; growing up in Tennessee, I remember that happening a number of times at "U-T" football games. Of course, even then the stadium held 70-75,000 and was full every game.
I'll post an update on the C team match in due course. Endavant Villarreal C!
