After news of Mukwelle Akale, an American playing in Villarreal's youth system, here is a slightly different story.
Jaime Miralles is an 18-year old striker, from Vinarós, north of Vila-real and Castellón, just in the Valencian Community.
He came up through the youth ranks with Villarreal, spent last year with our affiliate club CD Roda, finishing in their Juvenil A club which competed in the Division of Honor. He's received a scholarship to study at the University of Vermont, and will be playing for the Catamounts as an NCAA Division I soccer player next year.
We wish Jaime well, and we hope he adapts quickly to the Burlington, Vermont winter (I guarantee it is nothing like that in Vila-real, Roda, or Vinarós, and I hope someone introduces him to LL Bean). And if any of our readers happen to take a trip up that way and see him in action, let us know.
