La Liga schedule released: Villarreal's first home match vs. Barcelona

The La Liga schedule (weekends, of course, not actual match days and times--we're talking about Spain here) has been released.

David Ramos

Villarreal will need to hit the ground running, for sure.  Europa League qualifiers take place August 21 and August 28, and in between is a visit to Levante, likely to be Sunday August 24, and after the second qualifier a home match against none other than Barcelona, which will probably be August 31 (another Sunday).

Unless his ban is reduced on appeal, that means Barca will not have Luis Suarez available to face us.

As opposed to most years, we play both Barcelona and Real Madrid at home in the first half of the season, away in the second.

Major home matches in El Madrigal: Barcelona (Aug 30 weekend); Real Madrid (Sep 27), Valencia (Nov 2), Athletic Club (Jan 18), Sevilla (Mar 22), Atletico Madrid (Apr 29).

You can see the entire league calendar here. Apparently the league tried to have a live stream to unveil the calendar, but it didn't totally work.....
