The last day of the La Liga campaign has been marred by the collapse of a retaining barrier at Oasuna's El Sadar ground. It gave way and a number of people were spilled onto the pitch--I've seen pictures of Betis players helping to get children moved for treatment.
Play was delayed for half an hour, and the second halves of all matches were delayed so the second halves could all start at the same time. Four people with major injuries have gone to hospital, per the Red Cross via AS, seven others have been treated at the ground for minor injuries.
Osasuna defeated Betis 2-1, but were relegated because Getafe and Granada both won as well. Valladolid, Betis, and Osasuna (who had been in the Primera for fourteen consecutive seasons). A late penalty in favor of Getafe vs Rayo, converted by Cyprian Marica, sent the Basques down.
On the positive side, all three clubs promoted last year remain up.
