Villarreal squad for Cyprus trip announced: no Gio, Cani, Juan Carlos, or (surprisingly) Ruiz

Villarreal's injury list continues to grow: Juan Carlos is unavailable for the Apollon Limassol match. Surprisingly, considering how well he played on the weekend, Ruiz is dropped, with Dorado looking likely to partner Gabriel in central defense.

Villarreal has announced its squad for the trip to Cyprus.

Keepers: Asenjo, Aitor Fernández and Raúl Bernabéu.
Defenders: Mario, Rukavina, Jaume Costa, Adrián Marín, Gabriel, Dorado.
Midfielders: Bruno, Trigueros, Pina, Jonathan, Espinosa, Moi Gómez and Cheryshev.
Strikers: Uche, Vietto and Gerard Moreno.

Juan Carlos has come down with an injury, so Raúl Bernabéu (C team keeper) comes in as the third keeper (will be dropped from the 18 unless Asenjo or Aitor are injured tomorrow in the practice session at Limassol's ground).

The surprise I guess is that Ruiz has been dropped from the squad, though this may be because he and Gabriel figure to be the central pairing against Atleti on Sunday.  At any rate, it looks likely that Chechu Dorado will play in central defense with Gabriel, with Adrian Marin and Mario as fullbacks.

Gio and Cani have remained behind, training separately; no idea when either might return to action.  Endavant!!
