Villarreal may have been off, and our B and C teams are playing tomorrow, but there were still a couple of familiar faces in action today.
Girona defeated Albacete 1-0; Edu Ramos played 90 minutes for the losers and I thought played pretty well. Ex-Villarreal B man Florian Lejeune played in defense for the winners; Gerard Bordas came on as a substitute late on, and with about a minute remaining in regular time, Pablo Iñiguez was introduced into the action--his first game minutes since December 2013.
Earlier, Mallorca defeated Alavés 2-0; there was a Villarreal connection here too, former B and C player Fofo (Aldolfo Enriquez Garcia) playing for the islanders. And Alaves had an ex-Villarreal man too...Juanma! At age 33, he's still out there playing his trade. How many will remember he actually started against Almeria in the match we needed to win....
Meanwhile, Joselu scored for Recre today as they won at Tenerife. I'm a little confused becaue the last time I saw his name mentioned he was being sent to prison for assault, so I guess either he is free on appeal or something happened to overturn that sentence. Anyone know?
