Villarreal transfer news: update

Hernan Perez out, Canales not coming. That's all we know about the first team

Manuel Queimadelos Alonso

Hernan Perez is on his way to Olympiakos, with a contract until 2017, and Villarreal has €2.5m euros in its pocket from this sale, at least that's what is being reported. The 24-year old Paraguayan leaves Villarreal after almost five years, arriving in the summer of 2009. With our first team, he played in 44 matches, scoring seven goals, of which the most remembered will surely be the last-second winner at home versus Malaga, a goal which for a time looked like it might save us from relegation.

Hernán has battled a number of injuries during his time in Vila-real, and perhaps a change of scenery will be good for him, but we will miss him. A battler for sure.

The Sergio Canales affair seems to have ended with Valencia selling Canales to Real Sociedad instead, for the same money as we offered apparently. it was the player's second choice, but it sounded as though Valencia made it quite clear they would not sell him to us. (Valencia are offloading Pabon, Guardado, Postiga, Banega apparently, have added Vargas and perhaps Seydou Keita, so the player churn continues). Well, Los Che president Salvo is an idiot anyway.

BREAKING--Yes, Real Sociedad has announced his capture. Signed contract until 2018.

Mexican youth international Jorge Espericueta is in Vila-real today, though as far as I can tell the only agreement so far is for him to be loaned to us until the end of the season. Perhaps something more is being negotiated.

Pizzi, on loan to Espanyol, and Oliver Torres (20-yr old Atletico starlet) being mentioned. Not sure either is an upgrade on Hernan--I think Torres will be great, but if we only have him on loan, huh.
