La Liga returns to El Madrigal. And to mark the occasion, the return of our old friend Diego Mariño and Valladolid.
Valladolid lost its opener at home to Athletic Bilbao and lost star player Patrick Ebert to injury -- a double whammy. Javi Guerra and Manucho can still score some goals (though not as many as the young Angolan claimed), but ex-Levante boss Juan Ignacio Martínez (JIM!) will undoubtedly look to beat the Yellow Submarine on the counter.
Same squad as last week at Marcelino García Toral's disposal:
Keepers: Juan Carlos, Asenjo.
Defenders: Mario, Pantic, J. Costa, Musacchio, Íñiguez, Dorado.
Midfielders: Bruno, Pina, Manu, Hernán, Aquino, Cani.
Strikers: Giovani, Uche, Jony, Perbet.
My expected XI (as compared to last week):
Asenjo; Mario, Íñiguez, Musacchio, J. Costa; Bruno, Pina; Aquino (Hernán), Cani; Gio, Jony (Uche).
The substitutes turned around last week's match in Almería, so Javier Aquino and Jony Pereira deserve a start. That goes for Manu Trigueros as well, but I think Marcelino wants to see more of Tomás Pina to know what we have.
The match begins at 5 pm Eastern Time and will air in the US on beIN Sport en Español -- nice to be back on TV! We need another 3 points. Endavant Villarreal!
