A depleted Villarreal take on Recre at El Madrigal

Apologies for what will be a very brief preview, as I am leaving tomorrow to move to California--driving across country!

On paper Villarreal should easily win this match, that is if they had a full squad--but they don't. With injuries to Hernan Perez (out for the season), suspensions to Bruno (ridiculous) and Manu Trigueros, and international duty for Moi Gomez, Pablo Iñiguez and Javier Aquino, the Submarine's crew is looking a little threadbare.

Still, we can call on Farinos and Senna (hopefully) in midfield, maybe Jony, Cani, Uche and Perbet up front. We'll see.

Cani is in the squad, as is Juanma:

Team news:

Keepers: Juan Carlos, Aitor Fernández (first time for him!)

Defenders: Musacchio, Mario, Mellberg, Jaume Costa, Dorado, Joan Oriol.

Midfielders: Marcos Senna, Cani, Farinós, Canteros, Moi Gómez y Juanma.

Strikers: Jonathan Pereira, Uche, Perbet y Gerard.

Our opponents: Recreativo are sitting in a comfortable middlish table position. They are nine points above the relegation zone even though they have lost their last four matches. They do get their leading scorer, Chuli (14 goals) back for this one, though midfielder Pardo is suspended. The Decano had a good patch early in the season, when they beat Alcorcon as well as us (probably one of the worst games Velasquez's Villarreal played this season, if not the worst).

With Girona, Almeria and Alcorcon all playing winnable home ties this weekend, it's incumbent on us to keep the pedal to the metal and come up with a fourth consecutive win. Endavant Villarreal!! Sempre Endavant!
