Villarreal Must Continue Its "Insular" Form

Villarreal CF hosts UD Las Palmas on Sunday evening in Spanish second-division play. Both sides have demonstrated excellent home form but have struggled for results on the road. Will the trend continue at El Madrigal?

Manager Marcelino García Toral concurs: another must-win at El Madrigal for Villarreal. Another direct rival visits in UD Las Palmas, currently level on points with the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal has kept its closest pursuers at bay at home, defeating top-half teams Alcorcón, Córdoba, Ponferradina, and Sabadell without conceding a goal. Barcelona B did win at El Madrigal in the last game of the Julio Velázquez era, but the "baby blaugranes" are not a direct rival in the traditional sense, as they cannot achieve promotion. And that victory came over a different Villarreal.

The squad for tomorrow's match:

Keepers: Juan Carlos, Mariño.
Defenders: Musacchio, Mario, Dorado, J. Oriol, J. Costa, Íñiguez.
Midfielders: Cani, Bruno, Farinós, Trigueros, Moi, Aquino, Canteros.
Forwards: Jony, Perbet, Uche.

Two changes from last week's squad against Hércules: one forced and one by design. Marcos Senna tweaked his left hamstring as a late substitute at Estadio José Rico Pérez, so Héctor Canteros returns to the squad. Welcome back! And after a week of celebrations in Nigeria, Ikechukwu Uche is back for Gerard Moreno, who returns to the 'B' team.

The match begins at 2 pm Eastern Time. Expect streams for a Sunday encounter. Endavant Villarreal!
