Villarreal Fails to Score in Guadalajara

On the heels of an impressive 3-0 home win over Sabadell, Villarreal looks to prolong the good feelings with a road win against CD Guadalajara. Villarreal won the first leg 2-1 at El Madrigal in come-from-behind fashion. Will the new signings get a look today?

Very winnable away match today. Villarreal visits relegation-threatened CD Guadalajara (not from Mexico!) and the 8,000-seat Estadio Pedro Escartín, named after a former referee. Ticket prices were jacked up for this match, so don't expect to see many fans -- at least in yellow.

This is Guadalajara's first-ever season in the Segunda, and to help stay up, they brought in Primera veterans like Kepa Blanco (ex-Sevilla) and Álvaro Antón (ex-Valladolid). Guadalajara has taken 18 points at home and only 7 on the road, so expect them to come out swinging.

From a Villarreal perspective, new faces Chechu Dorado, Juanma Gómez, and Jeremy Perbet are in the squad for today's match. Hernán Pérez and Javi Venta miss out due to injury, while Joan Oriol is suspended.

Villarreal XI: Juan Carlos; Mario, Mellberg, Musacchio, Dorado; Senna, Farinós; Cani, Trigueros; Gerard Moreno, Pereira.

No place for Jaume Costa, who is now apparently a full-time midfielder. And Bruno Soriano also remains on the bench after serving his yellow-card suspension - a big surprise, though Javier Farinós was fantastic against Sabadell.

The match begins at 12 noon Eastern Time. No TV, so follow along on Radio Vila-real. Endavant!
