Villarreal vs. Valencia: GameThread

New, comments

The junior clásico of the jornada takes place at El Madrigal on Sunday afternoon. The Valencian Community derbi between Villarreal and Valencia returns after the Yellow Submarine's one-year stay in the Segunda. Should be a cracker.

Villarreal was seconds away from salvation at Mestalla in the penultimate round of the 2011-12 season. But Valencia scored through Jonas, the Yellow Submarine then lost at home to Atlético Madrid, and Rayo Vallecano scored a last-minute equalizer at home against Granada. Relegation beckoned for our boys in yellow.

Now we have returned...#HemTornat

Official Villarreal XI: Asenjo; Mario, Musacchio, Dorado, J. Costa; Trigueros, Bruno; Cani, Hernán (from out of the squad to the starting XI!); Gio, Uche.

Official Villarreal bench: J. Carlos; Pantic, Íñiguez; Pina, Aquino; Perbet, Jony.

Three changes from the unsuccessful XI in Bilbo: Manu Trigueros for Tomás Pina, Hernán Perez for the inconsistent Javier Aquino, and Ikechukwu Uche for Jony Pereira. Time to shuffle the deck a bit. Giovani dos Santos should have extra incentive facing international teammate Andrés Guardado.

And did I mention this was a derbi? Time to win in front of a full house -- including the away section -- at El Madrigal. A por todas!

The match begins at 12 noon Eastern Time (Europe has already "fallen back"). BeIN Sport en Español has you covered in the US. Endavant Villarreal!
