Thread: Villarreal vs. Ponferradina

We're not Real Madrid, but expect Ponferradina to be just as motivated at El Madrigal. Who they play is a different question.
We're not Real Madrid, but expect Ponferradina to be just as motivated at El Madrigal. Who they play is a different question.

The Julio Velázquez era at Villarreal today confronts our mortal enemy: the Copa de Su Majestad el Rey. Our new manager has picked up ten points from twelve to start the Segunda campaign, but the cup is a different animal. One loss and you're out in this round.

Our opponent is very familiar: last Saturday's league opponents Ponferradina. This is La Ponfe's third season ever in the Segunda, and the club has never consolidated itself in the category. As Villarreal's main focus in 2012-13 is on promotion (#Tornarem), the Copa is a sideshow for both clubs. Hard to know what to expect in this kind of match.

Velázquez has nineteen players to select from:

Keepers: J. Carlos, Mariño.
Defenders: J. Oriol, J. Costa, Venta, Mario, Mellberg, Musacchio, Lejeune, Truyols.
Midfielders: Senna, Bruno, Moi, Cani, Trigueros, Toribio.
Strikers: Pandiani, Cavenaghi, Chamorro.

My expected XI (4-2-3-1): Mariño; Mario, Musacchio, Lejeune, Costa; Toribio, Bruno; Manu, Cani, Moi; Cavenaghi.

The match begins at 4 pm Eastern Time and airs on Marca TV. Look for streams. Endavant Villarreal!
