Almeria and Elche are the only clubs with two wins from two matches, both posting 2-1 wins this week. Almeria won the Friday night match against Xerez with two goals from Charles, while Elche triumphed in a Valencian derby against Hercules, two goals in two minutes midway through the first half proving to be enough.
Alarm bells should already be ringing at Racing, who lost again, this time 2-0 to Cordoba. Their next opponents (at the Sardinero) will be Sporting Gijon, who have opened the season with two losses as well. This time Real Murcia (the "Paprika-men") defeated them 3-2, with Javi Matilla among the scorers for the visitors. That was Matilla's first goal since the 2009-10 season for Villarreal B. Full credit to Murica for winning despite being a man down for most of the match!
Other teams to open the season with two losses are everyone's second team Mirandes, who haven't scored a goal yet this season and lost at Recreativo; Hercules, and Barcelona B, who lost in the mini-classico to Real Madrid B, 3-2. The baby blaugrana seem to be able to score, but have allowed eight goals in two matches. Goalkeeper Oier will have a long season if this keeps up.
