Greetings groguets! It's bittersweet, admittedly, but I wanted to start off by mentioning our former player Borja Valero, who scored yesterday in Fiorentina's 3-1 win at AC Milan. If you'd like to read a report on the game and see how Gonzalo Rodriguez is doing, go here:

and Borja's goal is here:

Now, to Villarreal. Jose Luis Lizarraga analyzed yesterday's match and puts his finger on the problem--not enoug scoring. When Senna leads your team with four goals, all from set pieces (three penalties and a free kick) it's not hard to figure out where the problem lies.

He does, rightly so, praise the efforts of Villarreal overall, but when you don't finish opportunities, it's easy for a bad bounce, or in this case, a golazo, to cost you points. The game writeup makes some of the same comments:

Some nice photos from the match are here.
It was a weekend of draws for our top three teams, with Villarreal B drawing 0-0 at Huracan Valencia and Villarreal C drawing 1-1 with Castellon. A report on the latter match:
Finally, it seems like a good time to report on yellow card accumulation, as we have a few players getting close to a one-game ban for their fifth card. According to Soccerway:
5 Mellberg (ban already served)
4 Cani, Jaume Costa
3 Hernan Perez, Toribio, Senna, Musacchio, Joan Oriol, Manu Trigueros
2 Mario Gaspar, Walter Pandiani
1 Javi Venta, Moi, Bruno, Lejeune
Let's hope all those players with three spread their next two cards out a bit!
We will have another podcast up soon, but use this thread to comment on happenings during the week. ENDAVANT VILLARREAL!!!
