We're number 6!! Sadly, they don't give a trophy for that, but Villarreal moved up to #6 on the ranking published by the IFFHS, an international body that deals with football history and statistics. Ahead of us were Barca, Madrid, Porto, and the two Manchester teams. Okay then.
The Spanish national team arrived in the US and is now at their hotel in Providence. Judging from the last training session in Spain, it looks as though Bruno may start. Argentina's national side lost its game to Nigeria yesterday, 4-1; Mateo Musacchio came in at the 65 minute mark with the team already 4-0 down, Marco Ruben didn't play.
Rumors: Rossi now. Yesterday everyone, AS and Marca included, essentially had the Bambino wearing the blue and red of Barcelona. Today, AS at least is backtracking a bit. Barca's interest has "cooled", it says.
The reasons given are cost, and the possibility that Barca would be better off with Alexis Sanchez from Udinese or William from Shaktar Donetsk. Is this real, or is AS serving as a Barca mouthpiece to try and drive down Villarreal's price?
Goal.com reports the deal is still on but Barca are trying to include Bojan or Alberto Botia, who they would first bring back from Sporting.
Marca hasn't backtracked, in fact they are now reporting Barca's next move after Rossi will be to add another Thiago--Silva this time.
Senna: the team and his agent met today but according to the agent they are farther apart than he had expected and he needs to talk to Senna.
Defenders: Capdevila rumored to be going to Malaga (who apparently are now after Jeremy Toulalan). Benfica making offer for Monreal from Osasuna. Villarreal now apparently interested in Sporting left back Canella.
And a definite: Valencia has released goalkeeper César and he has signed a one-year deal with Villarreal. Free transfer. He will be cover while Juan Carlos is loaned somewhere for a year, we hope.

Now it's time for the strange items of the day.
First off, Chori Castro. I really like him as a target for Villarreal now that we've found out that through a clerical error, his buyout clause is only 18,000 euros. Great work, Mallorca, no wonder you went bankrupt!!
Secondly, nothing to do with La Liga at all, but there are open goal misses and then there is this. Watch and enjoy.
And finally. This is just the strangest video for a sports team I've ever seen. I have no idea why a koala, why it does what it does, or anything. Or what it has to do with Getafe. If anyone knows, let us know. Endavant Villarreal!!
