With five Spanish internationals in tow, Villarreal will play a friendly today in Hong Kong against Kitchee SC. Kitchee, an unknown in Asian competition, features six Spaniards and is champion of its league. They defeated AC Milan and Juventus in years past, so watch out.
Manager Juan Carlos Garrido brought 16 players to China:
Goalkeepers: Diego López, Juan Carlos.
Defenders: Joan Oriol, Carlos Marchena, Joan Capdevila, José Manuel Catalá, Cicinho, Carlos Catalá.
Midfielders: Santi Cazorla, Javier Matilla, Marcos Senna, Borja Valero, Bruno Soriano.
Forwards: Trigueros, Fofo, Sergi Mut.
Japanese legend Hidetoshi Nakata will play for both clubs: Kitchee in the first half, Villarreal in the second. He played in England and Italy, so that should be a treat. And it will be interesting to see the C teamers up front.
The match is on Canal Nou Dos at 8 am Eastern Time. Last chance (if we can find a stream) to see the submarino amarillo for a couple of months. Most importantly, the match proceeds will benefit victims of the earthquake in Japan. Enhorabuena Villarreal.
